Most HAC functions are held at the Unitarian Society of New Haven (USNH) :

From I-91 (N or S): Take exit 10 onto Rt. 40. Take the first exit. Turn left at stop light at end of ramp. Turn left at next stop light onto Hartford Turnpike. Continue south through two stop lights (at Dixwell Avenue and Skiff Street). The Society is 2/3 mile past Skiff Street on the right.

From the Wilbur Cross Parkway (Route 15): Take exit 61. At end of ramp turn south toward New Haven. At the second stop light turn left onto Skiff Street. Proceed to second stop light. Turn right onto Hartford Turnpike. The Society is 2/3 mile on your right. (You can also use exits 62 and 63.)

Directions to Lisboa Restaurant

Lisboa is located at 19 Lafayette Street, Waterbury, CT 06708 (203) 754-0789.

• From the west, take I-84 east to Rt-8 south (exit 19). Merge onto Rt-8 south, then take exit 30, Washington Avenue, and follow common directions below.
• From the east, take I-84 west to Rt-8 south (exit 20 - a left exit). Merge onto Rt-8 south, then take exit 30, Washington Avenue, and follow common directions below.
• From the north, take Rt-8 south to exit 30, Washington Avenue, and follow common directions below.
• From the south, take Rt-8 north to exit 30, Washington Avenue. Follow one-way street to first traffic light. Turn right onto Washington Avenue. Take right onto Lafayette Street. Lisboa will be on your left.

Common Directions (from Rt-8 south): At light at end of ramp turn left under highway and go straight (under railroad bridge) on Washington Avenue. Take right onto Lafayette Street. Lisboa will be on your left.

Directions to Gabriele Ristorante Italiano

Located at 326 Boston Post Rd Orange, CT 06477 (203) 799-2633, this restaurant is a convenient New Haven area location for HAC dinner meetings.

It is located on the Boston Post Road (Route 1) between Route 114 and Marsh Hill Road.

From I-95 N or S, take the Marsh Hill Road exit and head north. Go straight at the crossroads next to the plaza containing the Christmas Tree Shops. Turn right onto Route 1 at TGI Friday's. The restaurant is almost immediately on your right.

From Route 34, take Route 114 south to Route 1. Take a right onto Route 1 then look for the restaurant on your left.

Directions to the Curtis House (Woodbury)

Billed as Connecticut's oldest inn, the Curtis House is located at 506 Main Street South, Woodbury, CT 06978 (203) 263-2101. Its restaurant offers traditional Yankee meals at an all inclusive price. Its web site is at http://www.thecurtishouse.com/

It is located on the Main Street South (Route 6) just north of the intersection with Route 64.

From northern Fairfield county, take Rt. 84 east to exit 15 in Southbury. Take route 6 north into Woodbury. The inn will be on your left about 1/4 mile after the intersection with Route 64.

From Waterbury and areas to the east, take Rt. 84 west to exit 17. Stay straight on route 64 through Middlebury into Woodbury. At the end of Route 64, turn right onto Route 6. The inn will be on your left about 1/4 mile after the turn.

From the south, take Route 67 north through Oxford and Southbury. When Route 67 splits off of Route 6 north of central Southbury, stay on Route 6 and continue into Woodbury. The inn will be on your left about 1/4 mile north of the intersection with Route 64.

Directions to Bombay Restaurant (Danbury)

Bombay is located at 54 Pembroke Rd, Danbury, CT (203) 746-6425.

• From the west, take I-84 east to exit 6 and follow to Route 37 north.
• From the east, take I-84 west to exit 5 and follow to Route 37 north.

Follow Route 37 about 3 miles north of I-84. The restaurant is on the left in Franklyn Plaza.

Directions to Leo's (Southbury)

Leo's is located at 7 Poverty Road, Southbury, CT 06488 (203) 264-9190.

• From the west, take I-84 east to exit 15. Take the leftmost lane on the exit ramp and turn left under the highway. Go straight past the turn for I-84 west (next light) then get into left turn lane for the next light at the Southbury Plaza. Turn left onto Main Street South and follow common directions below.
• From the east, take I-84 west to exit 15. Turn right at the end of the ramp (use the leftmost of the two right turn lanes). Get into the left turn lane for the next light at the Southbury Plaza. Turn left onto Main Street South and follow common directions below.
• From the south, take Rt. 67 North through Oxford into Southbury. Follow the road under I-84, picking up the left lane when the road widens to three travel lanes. Pass through the light at the I-84 West on ramp then get into the left turn lane for the next light at the Southbury Plaza. Turn left onto Main Street South and follow common directions below.
• From the north, take Rt.67/Rt.6 south into Southbury. Turn right onto Main Street South at Southbury Plaza (just after the Shell station), and follow the common directions below.

Common Directions: when you get onto Main Street South at the Southbury Plaza end, take a right at the first traffic light onto Poverty Road. The restaurant is on the corner of Poverty and Main Street South. Take your first left into the parking lot. The restaurant entrance is on the side of the building away from Poverty Road.

Directions to 3 Penny Lane in Woodbridge:

• FROM THE NORTH (Note: This is also a good way to go if you're coming from the South): Take Route 15 (Merritt Parkway) to exit 59. At the end of the ramp, make a left turn (toward Woodbridge). At the second light (about 50 feet), make a left turn onto Lucy Street. Go to the end of Lucy Street (about 100 yards). Make a right turn onto Route 63. Go to the second light and make a left turn onto Route 114 at the Blue Check Deli. Go one mile. At the fire station, bear right onto Newton Road. Go just under one mile and make a left onto Penny Lane. 3 Penny Lane is the first house on the right (the white brick house).
• FROM THE SOUTH (from Fairfield County): Take Route 15 (Merritt Parkway) to exit 57. Take Route 34 East toward Woodbridge and New Haven. At the 2nd major intersection, make a left onto Route 114. Continue on Route 114 past Routes 243 and 313. A short distance after passing Route 313 you will see a police station and immediately afterward, a fire station on your left. At the fire station, make a sharp left turn onto Newton Road. Go just under one mile and make a left onto Penny Lane. 3 Penny Lane is the first house on the right (the white brick house).
• FROM NEW HAVEN: Take Whalley Avenue toward Woodbridge (away from downtown New Haven). When you are near the border of Woodbridge you will see a Walgreen's on your right, a gas station in front of you and a diner on your left. Go straight ahead (don't bear right). Whalley Avenue's name will change to Amity Road/Route 63. Continue on Amity Road/Route 63. Make a left turn onto Route 114 at the Blue Check Deli. Go one mile. At the fire station, bear right onto Newton Road. Go just under one mile and make a left onto Penny Lane. 3 Penny Lane is the first house on the right (the white brick house).

From 700 Hartford Turnpike in Hamden:

Take a left out of the parking lot onto Hartford Turnpike. At the traffic light, turn left onto Skiff Street. At the next traffic light, turn right onto Ridge Road. Take your first left onto Buell Street and then your first left again onto Forest Hill Road. The third house before the end of the street, number 63 is a white single-story home with black trim.

Directions: Take Route 84 to exit 15. Go north on Routes 6/67 (left from Newtown, right from Waterbury). Traffic light immediately after light at Plaza is Heritage Rd. (on left pole). Sign on right says Friendly's and Heritage Village. Turn left onto Heritage Rd. Proceed about a mile to Friendly's. Left fork immediately after Friendly's is New Wheeler Rd. Take it about 1 mile, pass East Hill sign on left to next intersection on right called Hilltop Rd. East. Take it to third driveway (units 806-818). Proceed as far as possible to parking areas. Access to unit 808B is between garages.

Note: If coming from New Haven, you can take Route 67 to where it meets route 84, then go under route 84 (don't get on 84) and continue on 67, following directions above.

From the New Haven area:

Take Route 8 north from either I-95 or the Merritt Parkway. Go through Waterbury and get off at exit 38 (Thomaston). Make a left at the end of the exit ramp. Go a short ways until you see signs for Route 254. Make a left onto 254 and head up towards Litchfield. 254 ends at Route 118 where you make a left turn and go up the hill about a 1/2 mile. Make a right onto Route 63 before you go through Litchfield center. Stay on 63, pass the Goshen Fairgrounds, and make a left onto Route 4 at the rotary in Goshen. In a few miles you will make another left at an intersection in order to stay on 4. Watch for a sign for Cornwall Village. You will make a left onto Pine Street (a right would take you onto Route 125). At the end of Pine St. make a left onto Valley Road. Follow this for 2 miles. Continue on Valley Road past the second street on the left (Everest Hill Rd.). Go over a small metal bridge, and then the road forks. A right takes you onto our road which is unmarked and a dead end. Climb a mile up the hill. The road turns to dirt a half mile up. At the end there's a metal gate, beyond which is a dirt path. Our driveway is on the right. There is no mailbox, but #120 is painted on the telephone pole.

This restaurant, once located at 57 Oaktree Road, Southbury, Connecticut, was a frequent location for HAC dinner meetings. Unfortunately, the restaurant has closed.

Directions to Pasta Fair

Formerly located at 262 Boston Post Road, Orange, Connecticut, this restaurant was a convenient New Haven area location for HAC dinner meetings. It has since been torn down and replaced by a bank.

Located at 57 Unquowa Road, Fairfield, this restaurant was a popular location for HAC dinner meetings at one time, but has closed its doors for good.

Shangri-Lee was located at 965 South Main Street, Cheshire, Connecticut.

The restaurant was a popular choice for our annual brunch as it offered a dim sum buffet on weekends. Unfortunately, it is no longer in business.

The New London group held discussions at the Mystic-Noank library, which is located at 40 Library St., Mystic . As far as we know, the group no longer meets. There is an active humanist group at All Souls UU Society in New London, and the Atheist Humanist Society of Connecticut and Rhode Island meets at the Groton Public Library.
